Overview

The Aquarium of the Pacific features more than 12,000 ocean animals representing nearly 500 species. Its focus is the Pacific Ocean, exploring the waters of the Tropical, Southern California, and Northern Pacific. There are 19 major habitats and 32 focus exhibits, as well as an ocean science and animal care center. Highlights include a shark lagoon, sea lion sanctuary, and Blue Cavern.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will be open with outdoor exhibits only in accordance with state health orders. Those exhibits include the Harbor Terrace (featuring the Moon Jelly Touch Lab and archerfish and mudskipper exhibits), Shark Lagoon (including touch pools), Lorikeet Forest, the Our Water Future exhibit, Southern California Steelhead Story, Molina Animal Care Center, June Keyes Penguin Habitat, the Ray Touch Pool (open for touch), and the Seals and Sea Lions Habitat. The outdoor gift store and some food service will be open. Indoor areas will be temporarily closed.

Keeping our guests and staff safe is our top priority. The Aquarium is limiting the number of visitors, requiring advance timed reservations, managing traffic flow to ensure social distancing, requiring face coverings for everyone age 2 and older and temperature checks for everyone, providing numerous hand-sanitizing stations, sanitizing surfaces constantly, and much more. Frequently Asked Questions about Aquarium of the Pacific

Do you have wheelchairs, what’s the cost to rent one?
Wheelchairs are complimentary and can be checked out at the information desk on a first come, first serve basis.

Do you have strollers?
The Aquarium offers baby “backpacks”, which can be borrowed free of charge at our information desk. We do not offer strollers at this time. While we do not have strollers for use, you are always welcome to bring your own. Also, on very busy days we have stroller parking areas throughout the Aquarium for your convenience.

Are cameras or video cameras allowed?
Cameras and video cameras are permitted in the Aquarium, as long as the footage is for personal use. Tripods are not permitted.

Are pets allowed?
We do not allow any animals or pets into our facility, except for licensed service dogs. This is to ensure the safety and health of our animals.

Do you allow outside food in the Aquarium?
The Aquarium does not allow any outside food within the Aquarium. However, we do have picnic tables located in the front grass area on a first come, first serve basis. Any snacks, lunches or editable items may be consumed in this area.

Are you open when it’s raining?
Yes, we are still open in the rain! Occasionally the Lorikeet Forest will close when it rains if the ground becomes slick, however, all other exhibits will remain open.

Do you have locker facilities available?
Unfortunately, we do not have any lockers available at this time.

Do you have a restaurant at your facility?
We have a cafeteria style restaurant called Café Scuba that is available for guests on our second floor.

Do you allow re-entry into the Aquarium?
Re-entry will be allowed for same day visits at the Aquarium. Be sure to have your hand stamped at the exit door. You will need a valid hand stamp to be allowed re-entry on the same date of visit.

Does my child under 3 need an admission ticket?
There is no charge for children under the age of 3 to visit the Aquarium.

Is there a place where nursing mothers can breastfeed?
Yes, there is a family area in the downstairs women’s restroom located near the coffee cart in the Great Hall of the Aquarium.

What is the cost of parking?
Parking is available at an adjacent parking structure (99 Aquarium Way) for a fee. The cost is currently $8, and payment is accepted by cash or checks only.
